Porting is available for United States and Canadian numbers. Numbers in other countries are new numbers only.

Good to know
- Your existing SIM and number are not affected. The Citrus number lives in the app alongside them.
- One balance pays for data, calls and texts. Top up once, in the app or on the web.
- Cancel the number any time from the app. Your eSIM and balance stay as they are.
- Emergency calls are not supported on Citrus numbers. Use your carrier line or a nearby phone.
Questions
Do I need a Citrus eSIM to use a number?
No. Calls and texts run inside the app over any internet connection, including hotel Wi-Fi or another carrier's data. Most people pair a number with the Citrus eSIM so it works the moment they land, but the two are separate and you can have either one on its own.
What do calls and texts cost?
Incoming calls and incoming texts are free. Outgoing texts are $0.06 per SMS segment (about 160 characters) and $0.12 per picture message. Outgoing calls are billed per minute at the destination rate shown in the table on this page and in the app before you dial. Everything comes out of the same balance as your data.
Can I keep my current phone number?
Yes, two ways. You can leave your normal SIM in the phone and use the Citrus number alongside it. Or you can port a US or Canadian number into Citrus so your existing number rings in the app wherever you are. The app checks whether a number can be moved before you pay.
How long does porting take?
Your current carrier sets the transfer date after it approves the request. The app shows the status at every step, and your number keeps working on the old carrier until the transfer completes. If the carrier rejects the request because an account detail does not match, you can correct it and resubmit in the app.
Why do some countries ask for ID?
Regulators in most countries outside North America require the carrier to verify who holds a number. For those countries the app asks for an ID document and an address before the number activates. US, Canadian, Puerto Rican and US Virgin Islands numbers do not need this.
Can I cancel the number?
Yes, at any time from the app. The number is a monthly or annual subscription and cancelling it does not affect your eSIM or your balance.
Can I call emergency services?
No. Citrus numbers cannot place emergency calls. Use your regular carrier line or any nearby phone to reach local emergency services.
